Aftermath pencil piece for gallery show
June 15, 2017
Copro Gallery in Santa Monica is hosting a Heavy Metal anniversary show in July. Matt and I were lucky enough to be invited to participate.
We are doing a collaborative drawing. I’m doing the left side and Matt is doing the right side.
We’re doing the Big Four of the Guest’s Legacy… The dog, phoenix, frog, and walrus. As you can see, I tackled the dog and the phoenix.
We’ll post a picture of the full thing when it’s done.
I have only one major project I’m working on at the moment, so I think I’ll find free time in the near future to return to issue six of Big Clean.

Another marker/colored pencil piece

Same technique as last time. This time with Khaoc actually in the suit. This little scene could be considered a preview of what the actual event “The Big Clean” is like.
I like the way this one turned out. I think this method might work well… A bit slow, but the speed should improve with practice. I’ve always wanted to transition back to traditional, and maybe I’ve found my working procedure, moving forward.
Marker/colored pencil technique

Here’s a technique I’ve been working out behind the scenes for a long time. It’s all traditional (the way I prefer).
I think I’m close to the point where I can use it to do all future Aftermath work. Just need to try and apply it, now.
This is a buff dude in what’s left of a Walden prison uniform. This is what Khaoc looks like during The Big Clean (and maybe for long after – haven’t decided)… except Khaoc is skinnier, hehe.
Halfway Men, image #2

Here’s an image for the upcoming Aftermath story. It features Jenkins as a Steward of the Ledger (aka a Halfway Man). All Stewards wear the two colored, billed cloak. I guess this is kind of like a style test image… I didn’t plan at all for this one. I just wanted to try some stuff out and see what it looked like. It’s based on a sloppy sketch… so it can only get better.
He’s heading up to a “Merry Kingdom” ruin – what ordinary folk now call Walden.
