Preview – Page 14

November 17, 2011

Finally! I was able to put Skyrim down for a while and get back to work….

Another page in the preview of part II of Return to Walden Earth. The next couple are going to involve some spoilers, so I might only post them in the Current Work section above.

Part 1 Pg2

October 3, 2011

Alright heres the first preview page for the first part of Return to Walden Earth. Im
exploring new brushes to add texture so itll cut down on rendering time. So expect this style to change.

Character Design Stuff

September 21, 2011

We’ve been working on the character designs over the past week. This is one example of the way it’s coming along:

Matt sent me this drawing of Nillard Daw, and I did a little bit of sketchy painting over it just to establish the color scheme. Daw figures HIGHLY into the beginning of part 2 of the Return to Walden Earth. I feel like I will be able to have a preview page from part two up by Tuesday.

Update 9/22:

Here’s another character, named Lug – just for fun:

The Salephant

August 16, 2011

With a few new brushes and Photoshop this illustration looks pretty good! Im going to go back and darken and render the rest like the head. There’ll be an updated one after im completely through with it. Sometimes seeing the same ‘ol drawing day after day you just want to throw it out there haha.

This is what the first page looks like right now without sound effects or dialog. We’re gonna finish the whole scene before we insert all of that. This was the first attempt at a fully-realized gray-scale comic image, so this page will go through a lot of stylistic updates by the time we get to the end, I figure. For now, here you go:

Khaoc Vs. Robot Page 4

February 9, 2011

Here’s the next page. It was done in 10 1/2 hours. I guess that’s almost at my mark, but the quality may have suffered a bit. Probably going to have to touch this one up a little.

The portrait of Abram was pretty much my first attempt at trying to complete anything in a digital medium. The big difference is that this took me like 15-20 hours in Photoshop, while the Painter image from the last post only took about 5-6 hours. I really think I’ve been converted to the digital medium. I started viewing it as a serious contender for my artistic output last month, and I’m pretty convinced it is for me. I have 20 days or so left in my Painter free trial, so we will see.

Me and my brother are still working on an Aftermath rewrite. Check back for updates.

I’m going to start a new digital piece in Painter tomorrow that hopefully will have the clarity of (parts of) this image, but without the insane hours.

Since I don’t have any new images to post – here is that other one again! Woohoo!

Preview Issue – Printed!

September 30, 2010

The printed issue is finally here. It looks pretty much the same as what you see in the 2010 Submission Issue page above, but it feels different to have it in your hands, and, for some reason, the images look more detailed in the compressed format compared to the 11X117 art. Cool. This is what it looks like:

Props to the folks at DocuMart – the Yeon location in Portland, OR – for the excellent quality.
