Page 10 – Coming Up

Should have it done tonight. Probably pretty late, though. Got a lot of work ahead of me!

Here it is:

Yet another one.

Part II – Page 8

I’m pretty sure I’ll add dialog to this scene once I get to a certain point. We’ll see, though. I got this page down to 9 hours. I think a 9-12 hours per page is a nice average. It’s easier to do 4 pages a week at 9 or 10 hours, though.

It’s not that I value being super fast or anything. It just makes sense when your looking at a 200+ page fully painted graphic novel that the further you can push your technique, the better. I’m definitely not aiming to spend 3 or 4 years on one book. I really don’t care if somebody takes 4 or 40 hours a page, as long as the end product represents their vision.

Another Page from Part II

Finished this one up. Took me 12 hours even though I was aiming for 10. Damn!

This one took only 9 hours, so I’m really starting to hone my digital process at this point.

The next one looks like this:

I’m getting used to the 12 hour process, and I made some tactical modifications to my working methods. I think this one went really well.

I’m trying to cut the pages down to 12 hours max per page. I’m being really strict about it now, and this is the first one that I succeeded in making that goal. I hope that the more I do it, the more I”’ be aware of the time passing, and then I’ll maximize that time to truly “finishing” the page.
