Two Paintings on Vinyl

May 19, 2010

I did the following paintings for a group exhibition. The theme of the show is to paint on old vinyl records, and it’s called “Life After Vinyl.” It’s being put on by Andy Brown, and will be held in the Sell Me Your Socks Gallery in Belfast, Northern Ireland. I met Andy at the Anaheim Comic Con, and I really appreciate the opportunity to work with him and the other great artists that will be showing.

To tell the truth, I’m anxious – as this would be my first show and so many good artists will be showing in the same space. But still, I hope the paintings will make the cut.

Here’s the link to the gallery and the direct link to the show below it:

The first one is called “Streisand Superman,” and the second is “A Happening in Central Park.” Both are acrylic on vinyl. The paintings were inspired by the music on the records themselves. To me, these images speak the sounds of Streisand.
